Proverbs- 15 A mild answer calms wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.
What does Jesus say about swearing? Matthew 15-10 ” Listen and understand. What goes into your mouth does not defile you it is what comes out of your mouth.” James 1-26 If a man who does not control his tongue imagine that he is devout, he is self deceived, his worship is pointless.”
The third commandment.” Do not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain.” If we swear are we not taking the Lord’s name in vain? Why would we think swearing, or throwing a course on someone, or on their name is a good thing? The television, and the movies are full of bad words. How has this practice in our society become so acceptable? If we are Christians, meaning Christlike then we must as St Paul says namely” that you must lay aside your former way of life, and the old self, and you must put on that new man created in God’s image.” If Jesus visited our homes, would we want him to hear curse words come out of our mouths? We know he would be offended. If swearing is something we have a hard time over coming, let us then pray to Jesus for extra grace to overcome this sin. There isn’t any thing he can’t help us with. We just need to ask. Let this be a new beginning. http://www.turnbacktogod.com/poem-if-jesus-came-to-your-house/
