Today the church celebrates All Saints Day, a solemn feast dedicated to all those who have reached heaven. While many saints are officially recognized by name, the day also honors the countless faithful whose holiness is known only by God. The feast has deep roots in Christian history.
All Saints Day is a Holy Day of Obligation in many places, calling Catholics to attend Mass and give thanks for the intercession of the saints. It reminds us that holiness is possible for every person and that the church on earth remains united with those already in the presence of God.
