I began attending a bible study course a couple of weeks ago, called ” The Bible Timeline- the story of salvation.” I love reading, and studying the bible. I did not always feel that way. I did not always love it, or want to read it. My love for the bible began when I felt the desire to become closer to God. In our bible course we are reading Genesis; God’s plan for the world.
God loved the world he created, nature, animals and man whom he created in his own image and likeness. “Genesis1: 26-27 ” Let us make man in our image, in the image of God he created them. Male and female he created them.” Catechism” 357 God created us different, but equal. He created us in his love. He has given us dignity. We are capable of self- knowledge, self- possession, and able to give to others. The hallmark of man’s freedom is his ability to image God’s love in giving to another person. Only man can do that. In God’s grace we have a covenent with our creator, to offer him our faith, and love.”
God gave Adam and Eve everything they needed to live, and be happy in Eden, but they fell from his grace, because they disobeyed him, in not trusting in his goodness, and his love for them. God asked one thing of them. He warned them not to disobey him in this. He asked them not to eat of the tree of knowledge of good, and evil. As soon as they disobeyed him their eyes were opened to this knowledge. They saw themselves naked. They hid from God. They did not trust in his plan, and love for them. They trusted in themselves more.
I try to somehow relate the bible to my life, and what happens to me when I have not been obedient to God’s will, and plan for me. I have fallen many times because I have not sort the will of God in a decision, but decided I could do it myself. I did not go to God in prayer before making a decision; I did not place my trust in God’s plan, and in his love for me. I trusted more in myself. To be continued.
