I did my best

In Genesis=4 ; 4; 7 = Cain and Abel = The Lord said to Cain” If you do well, you can hold up your head, but if not, sin is a demon lurking at the door; his urge is toward you, yet you can be his master.

Cain was jealous of his brother Abel, because Abel found favor with God. Abel found favor with God because he gave God his best, the first fruits of his labor. Cain gave an offering to God, but God told Abel he did not give his best. Cain complained to God, and God told him, if he had done his best, he could hold up his head, and be at peace.

Doesn’t that happen to us? When we do our best we can say “I did my best now it is out of my hands.” When we do less than our best we usually have regrets. Then we might say ” I wish I would have done better.” The good news is if we keep striving to do our best in what ever situation, we will be able to hold up our heads, and the Lord will be pleased, and we will be at peace.
