” In the garden of the soul, the virtues of faith, hope, and love form the centerpiece. Traditionally called theological virtues, they are as free gifts from God, and draw us to God. We cannot earn these virtues. God has already planted them in our soul. However, these virtues need tending. On reflection, we can open our heart, mind and will to God’s grace. We embrace and open ourselves to this grace by pondering and dialoging with God about what we believe, how we hope, and the ways we love. When we ponder the scriptures and examine our beliefs, we nourish faith. When we meditate on the goodness of God’s creation, on friendships, and on all of God’s gifts to us, we nourish hope. When we pray for loved ones, consider how we love, empathize with those needing love, and celebrate the love given to us, we nourish love.
Prayer- Grant us oh Lord the wisdom to put into practice these virtues that you have given us out of love, and to place them into the garden of our souls- Amen
